Welcome to the site!

September 3, 2010

Hello there and congratulations for finding your way to this site! If you are reading this section of my blog then you are likely to be either a parent or one of the students under my pastoral care. Either way I’d like to welcome you to this online tutorial report page. It was lovely to meet nearly all of you during the induction day on Friday 3rd and I hope you had a chance to have many of your initial questions answered – don’t worry if you have a hundred more that you’ve thought of since – they will all be addressed in time I promise!

While the communication between staff and parents is already very good at the School, I have created this section of my class blog to offer an online space where you can get regular updates on what is happening during our Tutorial sessions together during the School year. I hope to publish individual student success stories, snippets of news, a running account of what we get up to on Friday afternoon contact periods and to address any issues as they arise. The whole idea is to help you to feel as much a part of our community as possible.

I will try to write up each report on a Saturday or Sunday morning and, while the length of each report will be dictated by my marking load and other commitments (!), I will try to make sure that I don’t miss any sessions. If you find this a useful resource, please do leave a comment in due course – it lets me know I am not just typing in the wind and I can shape future posts based on your feedback. So, you can expect the first report to appear next weekend after we have successfully negotiated the daunting first week of the new academic year (and the first of your children’s academic journey here at Norwich School).

Until then, a very warm welcome to our community and I look forward to getting to know you all very much better over the coming months.

Yours
Andy Fisher

Welcome to Inksights

April 11, 2009

Hello and welcome to inksights! As my avatar has just mentioned, my name is Andy Fisher and I am a Secondary School teacher based in Norwich, in the sunny East of England. I have enjoyed a somewhat colourful life to date, having been a trapese artist, clown, magician, nightclub door supervisor, bodyguard and packer of edible confetti (not in that particular order)!

However, I’m happy to say that my days of wanderlust are now safely behind me and I am in the fortunate position of having a career and lifestyle that I love. I am blessed with a loving family, a bunch of great friends and an inspiring network of professional contacts. So, unless you have found this site by accident (and you are more than welcome if that is the case) then you are likely to be -

  • A family member or a friend (I love you all)!
  • A student who I have taught or still teach – thanks for dropping by and I hope you find the content of this site useful to support our time together in class.
  • Or a professional colleague – if we’ve met, hello again, and if we haven’t had a face to face so far – please feel free to have a good look around and let me know if you’ve found the site helpful in any way.

Inksights is designed with 3 functions in mind -

  1. To offer a Web 2.0 interface for my students
  2. To serve as a node in the growing network of connected educators committed to shared professional development
  3. As evidence that there is life outside of the classroom!

Whoever you are, I hope this welcome page finds you happy and healthy and with a little luck we can meet over a coffee some time soon!

All Good Thoughts

Andy Fisher
